Theme:
In its 31st season, Detroit Jazz Fest will pay homage to seven significant jazz pioneers from the past 40 years -
Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Horace Silver, Betty Carter, Lester Bowie, and Gil Evans.
The underlying “Flame Keepers” theme will be reflected through performances by Bobby Watson, Randy Brecker, Mulgrew
Miller, Branford Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Maria Schneider and others.
|
Genre:
We are trying to avoid “stereotypical” representations of Jazz Musicians. We would like to move beyond the use of
Saxophones, quasi-cubist themes and look to representing this music and this festival’s history using form, not just
cliché.
Detroit Jazz Fest Board is particularly interested in using the Noguchi fountain in Hart Plaza as part of this.
|
Information to include on the poster:
- 2010 Flame Keeper’s logo
- Will accept Type face based on work. Use the dates “September 3-6, 2010” and “Flame Keepers”.
|
Size:
The poster will be printed for mass sale. It is better for DJF if the size follows typical specs of a poster
(28” x 36”) HOWEVER, last year’s poster was of an odd size and we just printed it with a solid background to
make up for that difference. A vertical orientation is much preferred.
